The Meeting Place

The Meeting Place is a social outlet and a safe environment in which carers (formal and informal) can bring the elderly, Alzheimer’s or Dementia sufferers to mix with others and enjoy a cuppa while the Carers or family members can shop or collect prescriptions for an hour and a half.

The Meeting Place will begin in Sallynoggin Youth & Community Centre on Wednesday 7th September 2011 from 11am to 1pm.

We look forward to seeing you there.

News - Sallynoggin Meeting Place

We held the Opening of The Meeting Place in Sallynoggin Youth & Community Facility on Wednesday 7th September. We were joined by many supporters and local representatives. We would like to extend a special thank you to Breda O'Brien who volunteers at the Facility, without whom this would be impossible. Another big thank you goes to Eilis Hession who has been particularly helpful and supportive in the set-up.

The Sallynoggin Meeting Place is all about independence of people. It is a social outlet and a safe environment in which informal or formal carers can bring the elderly and those suffering from Alzheimer’s / Dementia to mix with others and enjoy a cuppa. It gives older people in the community an opportunity to meet other people they might have known up to 50 years ago!

Run by experienced volunteers, The Meeting Place will take place in the Sallynoggin Youth & Community Centre one day a week for two hours – Wednesdays from 11am to 1pm.

We would like to gather a list of older people who would like to come to The Meeting Place. Please give us any referrals and we will endeavor to include all people nominated. Just click HERE to contact us.
